Guess what? Recruiters Are on your side.
I am well aware that recruiters often get a bad rep for ghosting candidates, not providing candidates with feedback, and being generally unhelpful, however - let’s keep in mind - a recruiters job is to hire people and if they aren’t successfully hiring people - they wouldn't have jobs.
Obviously, anyone who has interviewed for a job knows that not all recruiters have the same approach. Some overcommunicate, some take weeks to respond, most are somewhere in the middle. Just because you had a negative experience working with one recruiter, doesn’t mean you will have a negative experience working with every recruiter.
Recruiters don’t review resumes and reach out to candidates with the intention of rejecting them immediately after. With every resume we review, and every phone screen we conduct, we hope it will be the one that makes it through the process. With every interview a hiring manager conducts, we hope the conversation goes well so that we can ultimately proceed to an offer.
However, the reality is that we speak to a lot of candidates and can unfortunately only make one offer.
Our role is to help our hiring managers select the best candidate for the role in the shortest timeframe possible. That is why we enter into every interaction we have with hope and excitement that the you could be our person!
While It’s normal to feel nervous going into conversations with recruiters and hiring managers, but keep in mind that if you are in the process, we are rooting for you to succeed.
