Some signs that you’ve found a great manager (while interviewing)

Finding a supportive manager who will give you opportunities to learn, grow, and level up in your career is important. You’ll uncover a lot of these green flags by asking the right questions:

• They have a clear understanding of the role, why they’re hiring, and the impact it will have on the company

• They give you their full attention during the call (as much as they can). Slack notifications are muted or ignored, they’re not checking their email, etc.

• They encourage you to interview them and learn more about the company

• They value their team’s professional development and growth

• When it’s your turn to ask questions, they are transparent and honest. (This one can be hard to gauge, but it’s a good sign if they’re willing & eager to answer the hard questions.)

• They encourage a healthy work/life balance (for themselves and their team)

• They own their mistakes and their strengths
